‘Music Man’ Marches into Sundling Junior High

The auditorium at Walter R. Sundling Junior High will be transformed into River City, Iowa, when “The Music Man, Jr.” arrives on stage in mid-March. Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14, and 4 p.m. Saturday, March 15. Tickets, which are $5 for adults and $2 for students, will be available at the door. Audience members are advised to come early because seating is limited; however, the doors will not open until 20 minutes before the performance.

Approximately 100 Sundling seventh and eighth graders are involved in the student-run presentation. All students who auditioned were given the opportunity to participate in the production in some way, and students are responsible for every aspect, from sound and lighting to publicity and ticket sales. Three Sundling teachers—Kit Mason, Anne Olson, and Sabrina Russo—are directing the musical.

The school is located at 1100 N. Smith, Palatine.
