Community Blood Drive Set For March 5 At Sundling Junior
High
As a community service, Walter R. Sundling Junior High School, 1100 N.
Smith St., Palatine, hosts an annual blood drive. This year’s drive
will be held March 5 in the school’s cafeteria.
Appointments are being scheduled from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
at 20-minute intervals. To make an appointment, contact Carolyn
Alexander, Sundling’s Health and Safety chairman, at 847-963-5608,
or Lifesource at 847-803-7943. Walk-ins are also welcome. A free
babysitting area will be available and baked goods will be available
for donors, compliments of the Sundling PTA.
Individuals who make appointments are eligible for a drawing for
a stuffed animal, “Donor, the Bloodhound.” All donors are eligible
to enter Lifesource’s Chicagoland-area drawing to win a Chrysler
Seabring.
The need for blood is critical, because there has been a serious
shortage of donations for some time. Every donation helps three
people. Only 3-5 percent of the eligible population in the Chicagoland
area are blood donors.
