Frank C. Whiteley School to Host ‘Camp Invention’ in June

“Camp Invention,” a nationally recognized creativity and science camp for students entering second through sixth grades, will be held June 23-27, 2003, at Frank C. Whiteley School, 4335 Haman Ave., Hoffman Estates. This will be the first time Camp Invention has been hosted by a District 15 school.

The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. Registration is limited to 110 students. Early registration is $175 and is due by February 28. The regular registration fee from March 1 through May 31 is $190; late registration after May 31 is $199.

Whiteley teacher Jane Riley is the camp director, and teachers from District 15 will lead learning sessions at the camp. Presenting sponsor is the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The camp experience will include: “I Can Invent™,” a chance for kids to take apart old appliances and electrical items and use the parts to make their own inventions; “Problem Solving on Planet ZAK™,” with campers using their creative and critical thinking skills to get off the planet after being stranded; “Marble-ous Inventions™,” “Dig It! Ancient Inventors™,” and “Amazing Games™.”
