Milwaukee School Staff Visits Two District 15 Schools
A Milwaukee public school, Siefert Elementary School, is bringing its entire staff to visit two District 15 elementary schools, Thomas Jefferson and Pleasant Hill on Friday, February 7.
The visit, planned for Siefert’s staff Institute Day, will provide a first-hand look at how District 15 schools use the Koalaty Kid program. Koalaty Kid is a business-based process adapted for use by schools which provides instruction in quality improvement and a scientific approach to problem solving.
The trip to District 15 is an outgrowth of Siefert’s participation in the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Koalaty Kid conference held last April in Schaumburg. Both Thomas Jefferson and Pleasant Hill Schools hosted site visits during the conference, and Siefert principal Janel Hawkins was so impressed that she decided to bring her staff to see first-hand how District 15 teachers use Koalaty Kid in their classrooms.
“We want to show our teachers and other staff members how easily Koalaty Kid tools and techniques can be applied in the classroom,” explained Siefert’s Annie Thomas, who’s coordinating the visit.
At Thomas Jefferson and Pleasant Hill, Siefert staff members will visit classrooms and share information about how the Koalaty Kid principles can be used effectively as teaching and decision-making tools.
