Walter R. Sundling Junior High School Students to "Teach" Parents

What:
Walter R. Sundling Junior High School hosts workshop titled "Teaching Parents"

Where:
Walter R. Sundling Junior High, 1100 N. Smith, Palatine

When:
Thursday, January 9, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. and again from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Details:
Students will be bringing one parent to the studio to work in a ten-member television broadcast team. The team will produce a 3-minute news program. The parents will serve as the anchors and also operate all of the equipment.

The parents will rotate to every production position including Director, Video Mixer Technician, Audio Mixer Technician, Audio/Visual Technician, Graphics, Camera 1, Camera 2, and Floor Director. In addition, each parent will serve as anchor twice.

The workshop is designed to enlighten parents about the inner workings of the schools production studio. It will give them a better understanding of what takes place during the taping of a live broadcast, appreciate the importance of the "team" concept, and finally see their child in a different light....that as a teacher.
