Eighth-grade Service Learning Students Sponsor United Way Relief Fund Event
On Friday, November 2, at Carl Sandburg Junior High, Ms. Megleo’s and Mrs. Fleming’s eighth-grade Service Learning classes are sponsoring a dinner, dance, craft sale, and raffle.
There is a $5 charge with all proceeds going to the United Way Relief Fund. A representative from United Way will be on hand. In addition, at 2:45 p.m., students are organizing a charity basketball game with students playing the teachers of Carl Sandburg. There is a $1 charge to participate with all proceeds going to the United Way.
This is a unique way for Sandburg students to learn the value of helping others, develop a sense of civic responsibility, build self-esteem by accomplishing something worthwhile with their individual talents, improve team building skills, and develop problem-solving skills.
