Lee Marek brings “Weird Science” presentation to Gray M. Sanborn School
What: “Weird Science,” a fast-paced series of short, easy and sometimes “weird” demonstrations on chemical and physical phenomena
Who: Lee Marek, a frequent guest on “The David Letterman Show” and “The Bozo Show.” Marek, a chemistry and advanced placement chemistry teacher at Naperville North High School, has more than 30 years of teaching experience.

More information about Lee Marek Lee Marek has helped run more than 500 workshops/programs for teachers, students and the general public over the past 20 years. He is part of a group called “Weird Science” that has presented programs all across the U.S. and several other countries.
Marek holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois, and two master’s degrees from Roosevelt University, one in physics and another in chemistry. He has also done additional work at more than 20 other colleges and universities.
Marek has a strong interest in the history of chemistry and has traveled extensively in Europe studying the history of science. For the last four summers, he helped run a history of science program in England, Scotland and Ireland.
He’s received dozens of awards for his work, including the Fulbright to Japan award in 1999, the Golden Apple award in 1998, the American Chemical Society’s James Bryant Conant award in high school chemistry teaching in 1994 and the Illinois State Board of Education Those Who Excel award in 1992.
