Carl Sandburg Invites Area Residents
To Second Annual Wellness Fair

Carl Sandburg Junior High School invites all area residents to attend its second annual free Wellness Fair Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to noon at the school, 2600 Martin Lane, Rolling Meadows.
More than 30 health and wellness-related organizations will be on hand to provide information and services, including blood pressure checks; hearing, oral and spinal screenings; visual acuity and glaucoma tests; computerized health risk appraisals; home safety test; and more.

The school’s goal in providing this valuable free service is to help build a connected learning community and broaden productive partnerships and services to meet the needs of the entire community.

Participants include:

Acoustics Associated, LTD.—Hearing Screening ($1 charge for disposable ear plugs).

American Cancer Society—Eliminating cancer as a health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives from cancer, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education advocacy, and service.

American Heart Association—Mission is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

ANAD—Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders—Organization dedicated to alleviating eating disorders and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Arthritis Foundation—Supports research to find cures and prevention for arthritis and provides services to improve quality of life for people with arthritis.

Bridge Youth and Family Services—Offering youth and family counseling. Volunteer opportunities in mentoring programs.

Boy Scouts of America—Northwest Suburban Council—Co-ed High Adventure Program and professional scouting.

CEDA Northwest—This organization assists families in becoming emotionally and financially independent.

Children’s Home & Aid Society—Community child care.

District 15 Nurses—Eye exams.

The Fitness Team, Inc.—Sports equipment.

Harper College Dental Hygiene—Oral cancer screening, oral hygiene, and preventive care.

Harper College “In Zone” Youth Programs—Stop by for a chance to win a free class (value up to $119).

Kenneth Young Center—Benefits services and programs for seniors.

NAMI—Northwest Suburban Mental Health Alliance—Dedicated to improving the lives of persons with severe mental illnesses.
