School District 15 Names New Principal
for Marion Jordan School

Dana S. Petersen has been named as principal of Community Consolidated School District 15’s Marion Jordan School, 100 N. Harrison, Palatine, effective with the 2001-02 school year.

“Ms. Petersen is an experienced educator who is familiar with the district, our schools, and the community we serve,” commented John G. Conyers, superintendent of schools. “Her strong teaching credentials and her background of administrative experience will make her an asset to Marion Jordan School and the district.”

Petersen has been a building assistant at Gray M. Sanborn School, also in Palatine, since 1994. Before moving to Sanborn, she was a second-grade teacher at Kimball Hill School in Rolling Meadows. She has participated in the district’s New Leaders training and mentoring program, chaired several committees at Sanborn, served as case manager for the school’s self-contained behavior/emotional disorder program, and coordinated after-school and reading promotional programs.

She holds a B.A. in elementary education from Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa, and a master of arts degree in education administration from Northern Illinois University. Prior to joining School District 15, she taught first and second grades in schools in Colorado, Kansas and Iowa.
