District 15 Offers Preschool Option
Community Consolidated School District 15 offers a unique preschool experience for children who live in the district. Children who turn three or four years old by September 1 are eligible for the Preschool Integration Program (PIP), offered by the school district’s Early Childhood Program.
PIP blends normally developing preschoolers with children of the same age who have disabilities. The children have the opportunity to play and learn together in an accepting and challenging environment. The class is taught by a certified Early Childhood teacher and two program assistants, and maximum class size is 18 children.
Classes are held at The Learning Academy, 2800 W. Central Rd., Rolling Meadows. Parents may choose either morning or afternoon sessions of 2½ hours each, and they may choose a Monday-Thursday schedule or a Tuesday-Thursday only option. Tuition for the two-day program is $65 per month and for the four-day program, $125 per month. No transportation is provided.
The staff also provides opportunities for parent participation, including discussion groups, parent education workshops and parent/child activities.
Walk-in registration for the 2001-02 school year will be held on Thursday, April 12, at The Learning Academy. Registration hours are: 9:30-10 a.m., 12:30-2 p.m., and 5:30-7 p.m. Parents should bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate and two proofs of residency.
