District 15 Names Director of Transportation
Walter Doughty, currently a transportation consultant in South Carolina, has been named as director of the District 15 Transportation Department.
Doughty has extensive experience in operations management for both school and community bus systems. Most recently, he served as contract manager for First Student, Inc., managing the contracted school bus operations for the Beaufort County, South Carolina, School District. The district, which covers 580 square miles, including 60 coastal islands, serves more than 19,000 students in 28 schools.
As operations manager for EZ Rider, Midland Odessa Urban Transit Authority, Doughty assisted in the opening of a new transit system in the Midland and Odessa, Texas, communities. He previously served as transportation director or supervisor in school districts in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida.
