Conyers Learning Academy Computer, Medical Equipment Recycling Drive Set
Thursday and Friday, May 15-16, are the dates for the fifth annual computer/medical equipment recycling event hosted by the John G. Conyers Learning Academy (CLA).
Students and staff members will be on hand at the school, 2800 Central Rd., Rolling Meadows, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days to accept donations. The drive is presented in partnership with ATEN (Assistive Technology Exchange Network), a program of United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Chicago, and Whole Foods Market, Palatine.
Four previous drives hosted by CLA have yielded roughly 59 tons of computer and medical-related equipment that were recycled to benefit students and adults with disabilities and to protect the environment from potentially harmful discards.
ATEN’s recycling program provides refurbished computers and assistive technology for students with disabilities throughout Illinois as well as helps the environment by eliminating potentially dangerous electronic waste. The recycling of durable medical equipment benefits children and adults with permanent or temporary disabilities.
