Welcome to the Plum Grove Junior High Web site. We are delighted to have this opportunity to share information about our school with you.

The faculty and staff at Plum Grove are committed to providing a learning environment that truly meets the District 15 mission: To produce world class learners by building a connected learning community. Our connected learning community includes approximately 850 seventh- and eighth-grade students, 55 certified faculty and staff members, 20 support staff members, and more than 1,300 active PTSA members.

At Plum Grove, we care about the whole child and firmly believe that every child can succeed. Our caring and dedicated staff work to provide “best practice” instruction and to evaluate their efforts with measurable results. Our regular surveys of parents and students consistently show high satisfaction with the safe, orderly, and caring learning environment at Plum Grove.

We are proud of our students’ academic achievement. Regular analysis of test data shows that our students make substantial academic growth during their years at Plum Grove. In addition to integrated academic curricula in science, math, language arts, and social studies, we offer enrichment programs in foreign languages, visual and practical arts, music, and media design. Plum Grove students consistently perform in the top 10-15 percent on local, state, and national assessments. In 1998, the United States Department of Education recognized Plum Grove Junior High as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Plum Grove earned the 2009 Academic Excellence Award designation on the Illinois Honor Roll (third consecutive year), a distinction that goes to high-achieving Illinois schools.

Plum Grove’s instructional program incorporates technology as appropriate, with controlled Internet access to permit students to make use of instructional resources on the Web, multimedia computer labs giving all students the opportunity to develop their technology skills, and television production facilities which students use to produce daily school news programming.

In addition to our excellent academic programs, we provide a variety of extracurricular activities designed to promote student growth. Every year, students have the opportunity to participate in a number of clubs, interscholastic sports, and intramural sports. The Plum Grove student government is involved in both school activities and community outreach projects.

We encourage you to get to know us better and learn why parents and students enthusiastically support Plum Grove. We welcome visitors and are happy to answer any questions about our school. Please feel free to contact me at 847-963-7600.

Sincerely,

Sincerely,
Kerry Swalwell
