Thank you for your interest in Winston Campus-Elementary, home of the Eagles. Winston Campus-Elementary educates approximately 520 students in grades kindergarten through sixth in a large facility also occupied by Winston Campus-Junior High. Our school is also home to the district’s Adapted Instruction for Meaningful Education (AIME) program which serves students with mild to moderate mental impairments.

The Winston Campus-Elementary mission is: “A community of learners whose mission is to foster the development of life skills centered around respect for self, other, and the global society.”

We believe in:

  • Striving toward strong academic achievement
  • Generating higher-level reasoning through problem-solving skills
  • Connecting the learning process across the curriculum
  • Providing creative opportunities for all students
  • Accessing information through technology to enhance learning
  • Demonstrating social responsibility including communicating effectively with others
  • Maintaining a safe, orderly, and caring learning environment

Student achievement is the primary focus at Winston Campus-Elementary. Our students excel academically, as demonstrated by their scores on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT). Winston Campus Elementary earned the 2009 Academic Excellence Award designation on the Illinois Honor Roll (for the third consecutive year), a distinction that goes to high-achieving Illinois schools. Our staff is dedicated to meeting the needs of each student, grounded in the belief that all students can learn. Teachers differentiate instruction to ensure that all students meet their potential. Quality tools are utilized in each classroom to encourage students to assume responsibility for their own learning. In addition, each classroom has a mission statement, which establishes classroom expectations and goals for learning.

Winston Campus–Elementary encourages a positive atmosphere with clear emphasis on behavior through our schoolwide Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies (PBIS) program. We emphasize our “High Five Winston Pride” (be respectful, be responsible, hands and feet to self, follow directions, and be there/be ready) throughout our building.

Our PTA provides vital support to our school. Their varied activities, such as the annual picnic, sock hop, and after school specials, serve to strengthen the home-school connection. We are fortunate to have parent volunteers and senior exchange personnel who can be seen each and every day working with students and supporting our staff.
