Thank you for your interest in Lake Louise School, school home to approximately 750 kindergarten through sixth-grade students. Lake Louise’s experienced, enthusiastic teachers and other staff members are deeply committed to giving our students the kind of quality education that will prepare them for success in their future academic and social endeavors.
Believing that the ability to read well is vital to the acquisition of other academic skills, we place great emphasis on reading and language arts. We strive not only to build reading comprehension, but also to install a life-long love of reading. To meet the needs of children who have not yet developed appropriate reading skills, we have a number of programs designed to encourage and assist them, including Kindergarten Intervention Program (KIP), First-grade Literacy Intervention Program (FLIP), Second-grade Acceleration in Literacy (SAIL), Soar to Success for third- to-sixth-graders, and other one-on-one interventions.
Additionally, Lake Louise has recently been named a No Excuses University school, becoming one of a select network of K-8 schools across the nation which are committed to creating educational facilities that aggressively promote college readiness for all students.
Another priority at Lake Louise is to help students learn reasoning, problem solving, and life skills. This year the students and staff at Lake Louise will be using the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) system. PBIS is a systems approach to proactive school-wide expectations for all students. It provides both staff and students a systematic approach to problem solving and uses data for decision making. Through the use of “Cool Tools,” students learn the school expectations as spelled out in our “Lions’ Pride”—Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Ready. PBIS provides Lake Louise teachers with school-wide expectations that define, teach, remind, celebrate, and correct student discipline.
The active Lake Louise PTA organization works hard to provide many activities and events for our students. Numerous programs—including the variety show, back-to-school picnic, sock-hop, and Bingo Nights—reflect the tremendous dedication to education shown by parents of the Lake Louise community. Additionally, PTA members give generously of their time, volunteering nearly 1500 hours last year!
