Thank you for your interest in Jane Addams Elementary School, where “Together we make a difference!” Jane Addams serves approximately 630 students from diverse backgrounds in our kindergarten through sixth-grade programs. We have an extensive bilingual education program that includes self-contained classrooms as well as support in the regular education setting. Jane Addams also is the home to three of District 15’s self-contained special education classes for students with learning disabilities.

Our curriculum is based on District 15 Learner Statements and aligned to Illinois Learning Standards. Teachers analyze data from state, district, and classroom assessments to make instructional decisions. Knowledge gained from this data helps teachers differentiate curriculum and implement a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of every student.

Connecting with our community is very important to us. We have many community and parent volunteers, as well as Senior Exchange helpers and Palatine High School interns. To enrich students beyond the classroom, we offer a variety of clubs students may participate in during the school day.

At Jane Addams we pride ourselves on setting the highest expectations for student achievement and believing that every child will and can reach academic excellence. Recently we have been accepted as a No Excuses University, joining other schools across the nation to promote college-ready students. If you walk into Jane Addams, you will notice our commitment by just looking at the walls of the school. Each classroom has adopted a university for students to study, creating partnerships with those universities to educate and promote college to our students. Through this program we are continuing to be proactive in promoting a culture of universal achievement by the use of individual student and whole-class goal setting.

We are fortunate to have a PTA that is committed to providing our students and teachers with many different events and support throughout the school year. One such event that we are very proud of is the “Festival of Cultures,” which showcases the many different countries represented in our school through the sharing of foods and customs with our students and families. This event helps us to understand different cultures and embrace the diversity that makes Jane Addams such a great place to go to school. The PTA also sponsors a family reading night, school assemblies, and numerous other evening events for parents, teachers, and students.

Jane Addams provides a positive, nurturing, and respectful learning environment where every student can expect to receive a high quality, well-rounded, and engaging education.
