Diane Murphy, Principal
Thank you for your interest in Hunting Ridge School, home of the Hawks! Approximately 800 students of diverse backgrounds and cultures attend our Blue Ribbon School, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. We teach children in kindergarten through sixth grade and house District 15’s English Language Learner (ELL) program for students in first through sixth grade, as well as two gifted classrooms for students in grades three through six.
Our school Mission Statement declares: “Hunting Ridge is a School of the Mind that fosters a child-centered environment where teachers are the facilitators of the learning process. We believe that we can develop world-class learners by providing a framework that includes opportunities for our students to advance and flourish in their independence. In an age where children must take ownership in their learning and apply their learning to life’s experiences, we must educate through a variety of strategies and a philosophy that empowers our students to strive for excellence.”
The Hunting Ridge school community seeks to create an environment that encourages high levels of student achievement. Our excellent and dedicated staff provides learning opportunities to meet the needs of every child. Students consistently exceed state averages on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT). Hunting Ridge earned the 2005 Academic Excellent School designation on the Illinois Honor Roll, a distinction that goes to high-achieving Illinois schools.
Along with academics, we follow the Hawk Habits of respecting one another, being helpful, and using kind words. Our staff Respect Committee uses positive approaches in helping students make a positive difference at Hunting Ridge School. We continue to implement a respect plan, with an emphasis on ending bullying.
We warmly welcome parents to volunteer at school and be a part of their child’s education. We also encourage parents to join our very active and involved PTA, which provides programs for our students, as well as parents, and activities for families such as our back-to-school picnic and gym nights, plus much more. The home-school connection is very evident at Hunting Ridge, and we are fortunate to have involved parents.
We are proud of our students, our staff, and our school. If you would like more information about Hunting Ridge or would be interested in visiting our school, please call us at 847-963-5300, or e-mail me at murphyd@ccsd15.net.
Sincerely,
Diane Murphy
