Joshua Carpenter, Principal

Thank you for your interest in Central Road Elementary School, the home of the Wolves.  Known for its friendliness and warmth, Central Road is home to nearly 600 kindergarten through sixth-grade students. This modern facility, built in 1995 with an additional six classrooms added in 2000, lends itself well to the educational process and teamwork with pods of classrooms and movable walls. Along with computers in every classroom, a computer lab, broadcast studio, Read 180 lab, and a set of 30 fully networked wireless computers provide students with many opportunities to utilize technology as a tool for learning.

The staff at Central Road is committed to providing all children with a quality education and giving them the necessary tools and strategies to be successful both inside and outside the classroom. We use the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle of data-driven, continuous improvement to monitor our progress, to drive instruction, and to develop building level goals. “All students will improve their ability to read, comprehend and respond to written material” is our PDSA focus this year. To accomplish our goals, we have identified several strategies that will provide all of our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful, competent readers.

To measure our growth, we utilize several data sources. MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) is one tool that is used to help us assess student and school academic growth.   MAP data is used in a variety of ways including helping students and teachers create individual action plans in the area of reading.

Central Road takes great pride in providing our students with the skills necessary to be a “World Class Learner.” Yet, we understand that without the support of a strong parent community, our lofty goals and aspirations could not be met. Our strong PTA provides Central Road with wonderful resources that greatly benefit our school. We are always looking for volunteers at Central Road. If you would like more information about how to get involved, please do not hesitate in contacting our office.

We welcome your questions and invite you to visit our school. For more information, or to arrange a visit, please contact us at (847) 963-5100.
