Joshua Carpenter, Principal

Thank you for your interest in Central Road Elementary School, the home of the Wolves. Known for its friendliness and warmth, Central Road is home to more than 600 kindergarten through sixth-grade students. This modern facility, built in 1995 with an additional 6 classrooms added in 2000, lends itself well to the educational process and teamwork with its pods of three classrooms and movable walls. Along with four computers in every classroom, our new computer lab, broadcast studio, Read 180 mini-lab, and set of 30 fully networked wireless laptop computers provide students with many opportunities to utilize technology as a tool for learning.

The staff at Central Road is committed to providing all children with a quality education and giving them the necessary tools and strategies to be successful both inside and outside the classroom. We use the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle of data-driven, continuous improvement to monitor our progress, to drive instruction, and to develop building-level goals. Children and teachers both take advantage of data folders to track student progress throughout the school year and make educational decisions.

We still see reading as the foundation for academic success in all curricular areas and believe that children must “learn to read in order to read to learn!” For the 2007-2008 school year, the staff at Central Road will focus on maintaining continuous improvement above 85% in both reading and math.

At Central Road, we believe in educating the whole child, addressing social and emotional as well as academic needs. We welcome you to further investigate all of the opportunities that are available at Central Road. For more information, or to arrange a visit, please contact us at (847) 963-5100.
