School District 15 provides special education programs and services
for disabled children in conformance with the Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act (IDEA) and mandatory state legislation as interpreted
in the 23 Illinois Administrative Code, Subtitle A.
The following programs and services are available:
- Early intervention services—for all disabled children from birth to three years.
- Early childhood programs and services—for all disabled children from three to five years.
- Inclusion program—for physically disabled, autistic, and mentally impaired children who can function in regular classrooms with supportive assistance.
- Speech and language therapy—for students with mild to moderate speech impairments who can function in regular classrooms with supportive assistance.
- Language learning classrooms—for students with language disorders who require a special education classroom.
- Learning disabilities resource services—for students with mild to moderate learning disabilities who can function in regular classrooms with supportive assistance.
- Learning disabilities classrooms—for students with severe learning disabilities who require a special education classroom.
- Behavioral/emotional disorders resource services—for students with mild to moderate behavioral or emotional disorders who can function in regular classrooms with supportive assistance.
- Behavioral/emotional disorders classrooms—for students with behavioral/emotional disorders who require a special education classroom.
- Behavioral/emotional disorders day school program—for students with behavioral/emotional disorders who require an alternative educational setting.
- Mild, moderate, severe mental impairment programs—for students with mild, moderate, and severe mental impairments who require a special education classroom.
- Multiple needs program—for students with multiple needs who require a special education classroom.
- Autism program—for students with autism who require a special education classroom.
- Visual impairment program/services—for students with visual impairments who can function in regular classrooms with supportive assistance.
- Hearing impairment program/services—for students with mild to moderate hearing impairments who can function in regular classrooms with supportive assistance.
- Homebound/hospital instruction—for students who cannot attend school due to a medical condition.
