All students in Grades 1-8 participate in physical education classes. Students must take physical education unless they have one of the following:

  1. A request from parents that will be honored for three days.
  2. A request from a physician stating the reason and length of time the child is to be excused from class.

In order to participate in physical education classes, elementary students need to wear safe, appropriate attire, such as:

  • athletic shoes (not boots, sandals, platform shoes, or leather-soled shoes),
  • appropriate attire that does not interfere with the student's ability to run and move freely.

Junior high school students are required to have gym suits for physical education classes. For the convenience of parents, gym suits are sold at cost at each junior high book store. Gym suits should be clearly marked with the student's name. Showers are encouraged after strenuous gym activity. Students are to provide their own towels.
