The mission of Community Consolidated School District 15 is to produce world-class learners by building a connected learning community.
The district-the second largest elementary system in Illinois with
nearly 12,400 students-has 15 elementary schools, 4 junior high
schools, and an alternative school. School District 15 serves a
diverse community of more than 115,000 residents in which more than
70 languages are spoken.
The district employs approximately 2,290 people. Nearly 67 percent
of the certified staff hold masters degrees and have an average
of 17 years experience. School District 15 is committed to providing
educational opportunities that will prepare children for the challenges
of a rapidly changing world-a solid foundation in the basics and
the development of independent learners and problem solvers. The
district also recognizes the essential role technology plays in
helping children reach their potential and giving them the necessary
tools to be successful.
School District 15 works to build a connected learning community
to enhance our students success. The district works closely
with parents and other community members, PTAs and PTSAs, senior
citizens, area businesses, service organizations, and local governments.
Our schools are fortunate to have strong community supportthe
most recent figures show that in the past school year, more than
12,973 volunteers contributed nearly 161,000 hours of service in
the schools.
