Business & Auxiliary Services

The Department of Business and Auxiliary Services is responsible for the financial operation of the district and all general business and support functions. Robert Strande and George Lingel, interim co-assistant superintendents for business and auxiliary services/assistant treasurer, are responsible for the district's general business and support functions. This includes fiscal planning; budgeting; all related accounting activities for the receipt and expenditure of district funds; purchasing of supplies, materials, or services; School Nutrition Services; and internal services. Bids/Requests for Proposals

All purchases made and contracts entered by District 15 are in accordance with Illinois law. All contracts are approved or authorized by the Board of Education. Those in excess of $10,000 are made in accordance with the state bidding procedure unless specifically exempted by Illinois School Code.

Central Distribution

Provides support services through the central distribution facility, the warehousing and receiving operation, intradistrict mail delivery service, moving furniture and equipment throughout the district, and regular delivery of materials to each school throughout the year.

Includes the district's mainframe computer and financial system, which is used for payroll, accounts payable, budget preparation, budget reporting, personnel information processing, student information processing, transportation routing information, and word processing.


School Nutrition Services

Prepares and serves hot lunches for each of the schools. The meals are prepared at a central kitchen and transported daily to the elementary schools. Each of the four junior high schools has its own kitchen and service operation.

Food Services Facts:

  • The Food Services Department serves more than one million meals. Average health department inspection score for District 15 kitchens is a 97 out of a possible 100.

  • If the 48,303 hot dogs served were stretched end to end, they would span four miles.

    Responsible for maintenance of heating systems, electrical systems, general physical structures (including roofs, exterior painting, and floors), lawns, playing fields, asphalt parking lots, driveways, and student play areas.

    Environmental Services Facts:

  • Nearly 1.4 million square feet of floor space are cleaned and maintained every day.

  • Twenty parking lots and play areas are plowed after every snowstorm.

  • Approximately 76 acres of grass are mowed seasonally.

  • Recycling efforts are underway at all facilities.
